Now That's What I Call Epidemic
30th-Jan-2004 08:45 am
dogcow moof!
In the 13 hours between checking my email at home and at work, I had 31 copies of MyDoom. Though as you can tell by my new icon (the dogcow for the unknowing), perhaps I ought to call it YourDoom or MyInconvenience. I got four more in the five minutes it took to go through my inbox. I got 15 in the next five minutes. And I've gotten 4 5 6 7 8 in the last four. It's a good thing I've decided not to archive all the defanged viruses I get like I do with spam.

Incidentally, a lot of the viruses are sent to addresses which have never been used. There is no michael or peter or bill at flwyd.dhs.org. So this is one disadvantage of receiving all email for a domain.

Update: Things have slowed down, but in a 61 minute period I got 56 virus program-related emails. And no legitimate mail. Moof.

Update redux: I suspect that huge flurry was from people spreading the virus as they checked their email in the morning. I only got about 40 MyDoom hits through the rest of the day.
