The Next Body Art Craze

bug eyed earl
Someone should develop a way to induce permanent small bumps on the skin. Then people could get braille "tattoos." People could even tattoo their name in braille on the backs of their hands so you could grok someone's name by their handshake.

Also, why do Americans lack a fascination for writing phrases mistranslated into Arabic permanently on their bodies?

That's what I was about to write.

Things in languages that most people do not know are conversation starters. Someone will ask you what they say, and you can make up anything you want.

While impressive, those look like they're separated by at least half an inch, which wouldn't work for braille which needs 2x3 dots in the width of a finger. I was thinking of something less metal, more precise scarification.

Because Arabic-speaking countries haven't yet cycled around to being the exotic fad culture just yet.

When we were in high school, it was China/Japan and therefore the Chinese/Japanese characters were the favorites for tattoos.

Recently, India has become the fad culture for kids to emulate (bindis, harem-style pants, the gold-embroidered silk clothing, henna, etc.) and so Devanagri and Sanskrit have become en vogue when one is gettin' their ink did.

And just as India was the new Japan, I'm curious what the new India will be.

(Tamil as above sign) could be cleverly placed in several body locations.

FWIW, my Firefox couldn't figure out how to render that, but Safari could.
